What does Love INC do?
Love INC empowers churches to give Christians manageable opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ to people in need through the use of their gifts and talents. The result is transformed lives of both the giver and the receiver; invigorated churches as Christians live out their faith, and transformed communities as unity in the Body of Christ is seen through churches working together, across denominational lines, to show the love of Christ to people in need.

How long has Love INC been serving our local community?
Love INC of Rockford has been operating in Winnebago County since
1990 with the support of Christian churches throughout the area. It is part of a national movement of over 130 affiliates in 30 states that started over 30 years ago in Michigan.

How does Love INC work? The Love INC Model

Every Love INC affiliate is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, managed by an executive director and governed by a board of directors. There are three levels to the Love INC model, and each affiliate has the opportunity to minister to people in need on all three levels. Each level goes deeper in fulfilling Love INC’s mission to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ.

Level One: The Clearinghouse Model is the foundation of all Love INC affiliates and includes the steps below:

1. Receive request for help. Requests are received either directly from a person in need or a person in need is referred to the local Love INC office by a network church or local agency.

2. Assess the need. Specially trained Love INC volunteers or staff screen the request for extent of need and legitimacy, and discover any deeper issues fueling the crisis.

3. Provide help. The request is referred to the most appropriate Love INC partner church, agency, or faith-based organization. Staff or volunteers swing into action, providing whatever resources or outreach programs are appropriate to address the need(s).

4. Follow up. The Love INC office reviews the outcome. Was the immediate need met? Is there a core issue that requires longer-term attention? The follow-up also provides and opportunity for the recipient to become connected to a church if he or she so desires.

Level Two: Many Love INC affiliates have taken the model to Level Two, the Relational Ministry Model. This level trains and links church members with individuals and families in need on a long-term basis to provide mentoring, goal setting, skill training, and spiritual and emotional support, along with the full array of services and resources available in the Love INC network.

Level Three: In Level Three, the Comprehensive Model, Love INCs go even further to meet the needs of their communities by addressing the deeper issues that contribute to poverty and hopelessness.

"Little children,
let us stop just saying we love people;
let us really love them, and show it
by our actions."
